Sandplay Therapy – Dig into the Unconscious

Sandplay Therapy is a surprisingly powerful therapy for both children and adults. It uses an innate ability called “active imagination” to invoke a healing response deep within the psyche.

Described as a “safe and protected space,” clients create a scene in the sand with miniature figures often not really knowing what they are making. Inner and outer reality come together in the sandtray holding the potential for healing and transformation. The sandplay becomes like a waking dream where the client often works through various themes of their life on a non-verbal level. Opposites, such as, masculine and feminine aspects of the Self, feeling vs. thinking, darkness vs. light, creation and destruction, reach a new place which transcends the original divided state of the Self. After this change in attitude, it is then possible to effectively change behaviors in a natural and stable way.

The Self is a circle, whose center is everywhere and
whose circumference is nowhere.

- Carl G. Jung
